So you are, or are deciding, to become an entrepreneur. You feel the calling, and yearn for the freedom of work choice; and you want to experience many new things and perhaps create something different and permanent through fulfilling work. However, you shouldn’t feel the need to do it all alone. Here are some examples of ways you can look at networking with like-minded individuals.
TEDxSingapore
TEDxSingapore and TED regards themselves as a global community welcoming people from every discipline and culture with two things in common—Seeking a deeper understanding of the world; and wanting to turn that understanding into a better future for everyone.
Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
TEDx Singapore gives local entrepreneurs a platform to meet, discuss, and learn through a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances (live, or just TEDTalks videos from TED.com) on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder—and to provoke conversations that matter. The Singapore Entrepreneurs Network (SEN)
With an overall aim to connect local entrepreneurs through a series of networking sessions, the Singapore Entrepreneurs Network (SEN) is a monthly entrepreneur community event conducted by Project:Senso Ltd—an entrepreneur community based in Singapore and Malaysia.
SEN has organised regular events, jointly hosted together with their partners, Azione Capital Pte Ltd, the Media Development Authority of Singapore and Kelab Ekoniaga. Through thematic networking sessions that focus on specific entrepreneurship topics such as Internet marketing and legal advice, for example, the events feature experts specially invited as guest speakers, and a platform that encourages greater networking and participation. You can also utilise a handy calendar application to see when future meetups are occurring or sign up for one here on SEN’s website.
The Athena Network Singapore
Facilitating monthly business meetings for female executives and entrepreneurs to network in a relaxed atmosphere, Athena Network Singapore focuses exclusively on female executives and entrepreneurs to provide a platform for members to share knowledge and experience across a wide range of industries.
Singapore has a thriving community of small businesses and female entrepreneurs, and the Athena Network Singapore can provide opportunities for women to learn, grow and connect. By providing members with international collaboration opportunities and a rapidly growing online community, women can interact and share information, skills, business contacts, and foster collaboration for mutual success. Serving as the youth wing of the established Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), YEN has direct access to a vast international network and resource centre that spans all trades and industries.
SCCCI currently has 132 Trade Associations members and some 4,000 corporate members, making up a strong network of 35,000 enterprises including the Fortune 500 elite, Government-Linked companies, and Enterprise Awards recipients. Members of YEN can also tap on SCCCI’s international network when venturing overseas. The SCCCI’s international network has expanded its reach to many countries and regions including provinces and cities in China.
In order to help nurture entrepreneurship spirit among youths and promote the development of local enterprises, YEN provides members with a holistic experience through a wide range of events and activities in five core service areas: Experience Sharing, Business Networking, Family & Health, Community Welfare and Students’ Services.
